What is vibratory finishing?

Vibratory finishing is a mass finishing process used to deburr, descale, clean, polish, and improve the surface condition of manufactured components. Parts are placed inside a tub or bowl along with specially shaped abrasive media and, in most cases, a liquid compound. The machine vibrates at a set frequency and amplitude, causing the media to rub against the components continuously and uniformly.

Unlike manual finishing, which is time-consuming and inconsistent, vibratory finishing processes hundreds or thousands of components simultaneously, delivering a repeatable, controlled surface finish every time.

Key benefit: Vibratory finishing can replace hours of manual deburring with a single automated cycle — improving consistency and dramatically reducing labour costs.

How does the process work?

The machine creates a toroidal (donut-shaped) flow of components and media inside the bowl. As the mixture circulates, the abrasive action of the media removes sharp edges, burrs, scale, and surface contamination from the component surfaces.
