What is the sample trial service?
Sharmic Engineering offers a free sample trial service for new and existing customers. You send us a batch of your components and we process them in our fully equipped laboratory using a range of media and compound combinations. We return your processed samples along with a detailed report of the process parameters used and the results achieved.
This service is completely free of charge and carries no obligation. It's the best way to find the right process for your components before committing to purchasing equipment or media.
What to send us
- A representative sample batch — typically 20–50 components, or a weight of 1–5kg depending on part size
- A description of your requirements — what finish are you trying to achieve? What problem are you trying to solve? (deburring, descaling, polishing, cleaning)
- Your material specification — what material are the components made from, and any heat treatment or coating they've received
- Any drawings or surface finish specifications — particularly Ra targets or cleanliness standards
- A few unprocessed samples — so we can compare before and after
The more information you give us, the better we can match the process to your needs. If you're not sure what you need, just call us and we'll guide you through it.
What we test
Our technical team will assess your components and select appropriate media and compound options. We typically run trials with 2–3 different combinations and compare the results. We test for:
- Surface finish improvement (Ra measurement where required)
- Deburring effectiveness
- Cleanliness and freedom from contamination
- Component damage or dimensional impact
- Cycle time to achieve the target result
What you receive
After the trial, we'll return your processed components along with a written report detailing:
- The media and compound types tested
- Process parameters (amplitude, cycle time, load ratio, compound flow rate)
- Results achieved for each combination
- Our recommendation for the best process for your application
- A quotation for the recommended media, compounds, and/or equipment if required
