Plastic Abrasive & Polishing Media
Plastic type abrasive media is a versatile material used in vibratory finishing processes to deburr, polish, and descale parts. It comes in a variety of shapes, sizes, and abrasive capabilities, making it suitable for use on a wide range of materials and applications.

Tetrahedrons are a general purpose media. They reach into nooks and crannies that other media can't touch, cutting and polishing those hard-to-reach areas to a shine.

Cone shaped media is the workhorse for tasks. Using its pointed tip to cut away burrs and smooth uneven surfaces on parts. Leaves a uniform finish.

Paraboloid media is for general purpose use, often used if separation is a problem. Ideal for bar mesh separation and achieves a high-lustre finish on delicate surfaces.

The tristar can access small and narrow areas of parts that other media shapes might miss. This is helpful for finishing corners, holes and other intricate details.

Bowties can be effective for deburring or surface finishing a large number of parts simultaneously due to their potential increased surface area.

Grades
Plastic type abrasive media is available in a variety of abrasive capabilities, from Fine cutting to very Course. The cutting capability of the media is determined by its material composition.

Polishing
Plastic type abrasive media can be used to give various levels of polished finishes, from a matt finish to a high lustre. The type of finish achieved depends on the shape, size, and material composition of the media, as well as the polishing process parameters.

Benefits of Plastic Type Abrasive Media
- Low Density: Plastic type abrasive media does not impact the surface so aggressively, due to its lower density, which makes it ideal for deburring and polishing delicate parts.
- Lower wear rates , due to its low density.
- Non-scratching: Plastic type abrasive media is non-scratching, so it will not damage the surface of parts.
- Durable: Plastic type abrasive media retains its shape as it wears.
- Safe: Plastic type abrasive media is safe to use and does not pose as many health hazards.
Applications of Plastic Type Abrasive Media
- Automotive: Used to deburr, polish and descale automotive components, such as engine blocks, pistons and crankshafts.
- Aerospace: Used to deburr, polish and descale aerospace components, such as turbine blades and landing gear.
- Medical: Used to deburr, polish and descale medical devices, such as implants, surgical instruments and prosthetics.
- Electronics: Used to deburr, polish and descale electronic components, such as circuit boards, connectors and semiconductors.
- Other industries: Used used in a variety of other industries, such as food processing, metalworking, and woodworking.
